what others have to say about ILD.

Two weeks left on this wonderful diet.

All very enthused about what the program has to offer people

Got headaches the first 2 days from the sugar withdrawal.

One day at a time

To be perfectly honest, I was skeptical.

I have lost 42 lbs. and a total of 26 1/2 inches - this program really works!!

Such a marvelous change in life style.

Week One is complete and I have to write and share the joy!!

"What does it cost to do I LOVE DIETING?"

"Don't depend on pills to do the work for you."

Lost my cravings for all my comfort foods

Success came when I had a partner.

8-week program again to go for 25 more lbs.

I've lost 44 pounds, 4-5 dress sizes, 23 1/2 inches

Have kept my weight off!

There never is the perfect time to be on the first week, but it will go fast.

I am from British Columbia.  I love this program.  I am on week 4 and have lost 13 pounds

Anyone you know who is thinking that ILD is hard because of hunger and cravings?

For my 70th birthday, I decided to give myself a gift - better health.

I don't get tired/sleepy in the afternoons.  I wake up every morning ready to go.

OKAY, WHAT WOULD MOTIVATE YOU?

I lost 65 pounds and 37 inches in 7 months on ILD.

I just finished I Love Dieting and I have lost 17 lbs. total.  I feel great.

Just a quick note to tell you that I am feeling great!!!

Cholesterol went from 245 to 183

NOTHING tastes as good as being thin feels!!!!!

My 25-year-old son went on the "I Love Dieting" program recently with amazing results.

Almost been a full year that I have kept all of the weight off!

Am currently working on the ILD program as well as breast feeding my fifth child,

Some pills may help control the appetite, but they can have serious side effects. Read This!

How long has it been since you slipped easily into an outfit and felt great?

Two weeks left on this wonderful diet.

8/14/99 - I'm looking ahead with two weeks left on this wonderful diet.  It has been very successful for me to lose the last 10 lbs. after my second baby was born in November.  I also lost 3" around the chest, 2" at the waistline, and 1" at my hips.  I plan to keep drinking the perfect breakfast after the diet.  It is so easy in the morning taking care of my husband and two daughters, and then whipping together my delicious meal.  Love the diet, all the nutrition info, and being a part of the Shaklee family.  Two mothers came up to me on Friday, and raved about how great I looked and want to do whatever I have been doing!  Life is great!!!  Best regards, Gina Becton

All very enthused about what the program has to offer people 8/16/99

Again, I am so grateful that you developed AND SHARED this program with others in Shaklee.  I see this as a great way to boost to Supervisor for myself and then my downline.  They are all very enthused about what the program has to offer people AND that it uses our wonderful Shaklee products.  We have so many health-challenged people around us, it seems.  We just want to help them... I have lost 5 lbs. in two weeks.  I started at 118, which I know doesn't seem like much BUT I have a very small frame!  My goal is to get to 108 to110 and am now at 113.  I am 45 years old now and have not seen that weight for over 15 years from when I carried my daughter!  So, even though I'm small, I am still seeing and feeling the benefits of your program and will be glad to be back where I was!  Blessings, Marilyn Ware

Got headaches the first 2 days from the sugar withdrawal.

8/18/99
- Guess it is time to send in my testimonial!  I have a fairly slender husband, but he agreed to do this program with me.  We both got headaches the first 2 days from the sugar withdrawal.  After that  no diet related headaches!

One day at a time

8/30/99 - I'm doing GREAT!  I am on week 4.  After losing 10 pounds the first two weeks and only 3 the third, I was a little down... but not for long.  Just remember, "I will concentrate on today only!"  One day at a time.  Heck, I went to the Iowa State Fair 4 times during the 3rd week and that is something I always looked forward to... I used to 'live to eat' and now "I am eating to live!"  I am now wearing clothes I haven't been able to wear in years.  I am looking forward to wearing even more of the clothes I was prepared to give to my church, now they are going to get the larger sized ones, because this is going to be a life change for me.

Affirmations have helped me through the rough spots... the plateaus, and slight gains.  I am weighing daily so I can note the daily changes, for my group that will be starting on the program.  I will be able to encourage them, because I was there.  Buddies are also a very important part of the program.  Mine has been on vacation, but my fiancé is fantastic to compliment me on how great I look and gives me lots of support.

I was bordering high blood pressure and am no longer there.  I am just fine, no medication for me... just a healthy lifestyle.  I went for a health assessment at the office I work in during the day and am excited to get the results back.  I am almost to the end of the fourth week and have lost 15.5 pounds.  I just sent the most recent testimonies to a friend.  The end of my 4th week was a grand total loss of 17.5 pounds and 14 total inches.  I'm down almost two clothes sizes now!  Thank you Shaklee and Linda and Claretta for putting these products to such a test.  FANTASTIC!  Teri McClelland

To be perfectly honest, I was skeptical.

I usually enter into a new diet full of hope, but after a lifetime spent pursuing the perfect diet; I have grown increasingly doubtful of ever achieving permanent success.  However, my circumstances have forced a change - I am going through menopause and told myself that if I were ever going to get the weight off, it was now or never!

So your invitation to attend the Slim-Plan program introduction was a godsend.  I have just concluded my first week on the program and have lost a total of 9 pounds.  I have never had such phenomenal success before this.  The only times I've been hungry have been my own fault, usually when my lunch was delayed because I was away from home.  I intend to remedy that by carrying Carbo-Crunch Bars in my car.  The "I Love Dieting" booklet (that's a contradiction in terms if I've ever heard one) has been a great help, especially with the eight weeks of daily pages.  I've never stuck with keeping a food diary very long.  The daily sheets are terrific -- short and to the point.  They are a great way for me to keep track of what I'm eating and how I'm feeling and where I need to make changes to keep satisfied.

And this is the first diet I've used that didn't stress 30-60 minutes of exercise a day.  For over a year now, my father and I have been walking over 10 miles a week.  With Shaklee, if I don't feel like a big walk on my alternate days, 10 minutes is all it takes to fulfill my daily obligation without feeling guilty.

I must admit, by the end of this first week, I didn't think I could face another raw vegetable!  But now I can cook one of them and eat fish and chicken - I feel as though I've died and gone to heaven!  The buddy system has helped a great deal, too.  Susan and I talk just about every day and just knowing that someone else is feeling the same way and can talk with you about it, helps a great deal.  Sure, I still get cravings, but now I know how to deal with them so that I don't overeat.  Of course, I still can't wait to add dessert in week four, but by then I should be able to do it wisely.  And by then I expect that the cravings won't be as severe.  I hope that the other women on the diet are having great success, too.  Yours in Christ, Karen Vanderbrook  n and Slim Plan.  Brenda Alderson

I have lost 42 lbs. and a total of 26 1/2 inches - this program really works!!

10/13/99 - I am still on track with the program.  I start week 14 today.  I have lost 42 lbs. and a total of 26 1/2 inches - this program really works!!  I feel better in every way.  It is doing wonders for my physical, spiritual and emotional health.  My personal worth and esteem have improved so much from the ability to be in control of the food choices I make - I love it.

I have a goal to have lost 60 lbs. by my birthday which happens to be January 1st, 2000 I know I will achieve this.  I will probably exceed my goal - then I will set a new goal as I want to lose 100 lbs.  I encourage anyone with bad eating habits, or weight problems to try this plan, you will be so glad you did.  The benefits of good health, energy, clear skin, and weight loss are fantastic.  Thank you again to Linda Prosak & Claretta Mayhew and Shaklee for the incredible supplements.

Such a marvelous change in life style.

We were at the Burnaby session with Linda and Claretta in September and were so impressed that we went on the ILD the next morning.  I, Dick, being a very active 80 year old had no difficulty in losing an initial 5.5 lbs the first two weeks and have now lost another 6.5 lbs.  My midriff is flat and lean and I have lost all the weight I care to lose, with no real effort and with no fatigue and no between meals hunger.  I was 145.6 lbs and I am now 133.5 lbs.

I have a much smaller appetite now and drink more water, use lots of fresh produce and hey, it is such a marvelous change in life style.  I have ample energy and recently did 49 hours of hard physical labor in a four day period working on a home alteration project on an Island for our youngest son and his wife.

Ruth, also 80 years, has more difficulty with weight loss as she is forgetful and sometimes eats what she should not imbibe.  But she has lost 8 pounds, is feeling very well, is still losing weight and will eventually reach her goal of going down from 148.5 lbs. to 130 lbs. or less.  We both love ILD and are talking it up, with emphasis on what to do after the holidays with that extra weight.

Thank you so much for your marvelous guidance and for sharing so readily that which is for the good of all that touch base with you.  You are so right. Lecithin makes it so true that our bodies can be great fat burners as we continue to follow the guide and enjoy.

Love from Ruth and Dick, benefactors who hang lose in our clothes and need to cast off and get new ones.

Week One is complete and I have to write and share the joy!!

A brief history for me is that I have been consuming Shaklee supplements for the past four years. Three years ago, with my 3rd pregnancy, my thyroid went out of whack.  After being put on medication, my doc told me I would be on it for the rest of my life and I could expect it to go crazy if I ever gave birth again.

I did have another baby, and my levels went out of their norm. The day my last baby was born, I weighed in at 162.  And there the scale stuck for 16 months.  I have had my thyroid levels checked twice, and my medication was adjusted, but last Monday, the numbers all came back normal - and I STILL weighed 162.  And I was exercising and eating healthy and increased my soy protein and decreased my meat consumption and drank lots of water... No result.  Not an ounce!!

So I started the I Love Dieting program - because nothing else worked.  Are you ready for this?  I lost a pound the first day!  You can't know this joy unless you've watched a scale stay the EXACT SAME FOR SIXTEEN MONTHS! WOW! Wait... It gets better!

I lost a pound the second day too.  And I wasn't tired.  In fact, I had more energy than EVER before - and everyone I know makes the same comment: "Like you really needed more energy!" I am a pretty peppy, constantly on-the-go type of mom, but my energy on ILD was way better!! And I'm not done yet...

The third day, the scale still read 160, so I measured myself instead. I had lost a quarter inch off my upper arms and thighs, a full inch off my bust and hips, and THREE INCHES off my waist!  Oh happy day!  Now I know why they call it, "I LOVE DIETING!" because I truly do!

Week one - I've lost 6 pounds so far.  But the even greater news... My dear husband saw my results and was just sick and tired of being fat and joined me two days into the diet. We're not sure his starting weight - it didn't register on our little 300 pound limit scale. But after week one for him, he weighed in at 285!  He's lost AT LEAST 15 pounds in one week!

His mother's response was concern that he was losing it too quickly.  He replied, "Oh, yeah, Mom. Let's hold on to this weight just a little while longer than we need to. NOT!"

Everyone in my office wants to know what we are doing - and you better believe I'm telling them!  If it never boosted my Shaklee business, I'd still love this for how I feel and how my husband's health is improving - finally - in leaps and bounds.  What a bonus that I Love Dieting is increasing our business so monumentally.

"What does it cost to do I LOVE DIETING?"

We've received a number of emails asking, "What does it cost to do I LOVE DIETING?"

The cost of I LOVE DIETING actually depends on the situation of the person you are talking to.

1) If someone is brand new to Shaklee and doesn't use any nutritional products that are on the ILD program, the cost averages $76.00 a week once that person is sponsored into Shaklee as a member.

2) If someone is a Shaklee member they should already be using several of the required ILD products and you would deduct the cost of those products from the cost of ILD.  For instance, I can't imagine someone being a Shaklee member and not using the Vita-Lea.

3) If someone is a Shaklee business builder and if they are not using all of the required ILD products, the additional products are going to increase their bonus.  In this case you would deduct the increase in bonus from the cost of ILD along with the cost of the products they are already using.

We hear from people saying that they prolonged getting started on ILD because they thought of the cost as being additional.  When they discovered that they were using almost ALL of the required products already, they realized that ILD would cost them only a few more servings of Slim Plan.

SAVINGS WITH I LOVE DIETING

1) When you stop buying processed and snack foods your total grocery cost drops drastically.

2) Most people who are overweight continue to grow.  When you continue to grow, you continue to need new clothes.  When you go on ILD, you can begin shopping in your closet instead of spending money on new clothes.

3) Many who go on ILD have such tremendous health improvements that their doctors are able to take them off their high blood pressure, diabetic, and cholesterol medications along with other drugs.  This is another substantial savings.

The above are only financial cost and savings.  ILD is a back-to-nature program that most think should be called a "health program" instead of a weight loss program.  It is impossible to put a price tag on health, self-esteem, or how wonderful you feel when you complete this program.  For those of you who are sharing ILD, we hope these tips will help. For those of you who are thinking about starting ILD, we hope these ideas give you another way to look at the cost.

"Don't depend on pills to do the work for you."

I wish I would have read your warning before!  I began taking "Metabolift" about 6 months ago, for that "lift" of extra energy and to curb my appetite.  Last month, in January of 2002, I awoke suddenly at 3:00 a.m. sitting straight up .... my heart was beating very rapidly.  I couldn't go back to sleep.  I got on the internet looking up anxiety, heart attacks, etc.  I couldn't find anything to pinpoint just this one symptom.  I finally laid back down at 5:30 a.m. and slept till 9:00 a.m.  (A Sunday) I awoke again with a rapid heartbeat.  I decided to ignore it until I could call my Dr. the next day.  It continued all day.

I finally couldn't stand the anxiety anymore and called the "Telenurse" (after 13 hours).  After counting my heart rate (120 beats per minute) she told me I really should call 911 immediately...."You're going to throw a blood clot and you're going to be in serious trouble."  "Get to the emergency room immediately!"  I had my boyfriend drive me to the hospital and I took along my bottle of "Metabolift".  The Dr. agreed that the diet pill was the cause.  He said it basically breaks down into speed in your body.  He couldn't believe the amount in the dosage.

I was given medication to slow my heart rate and an EKG to check for heartbeat irregularities.  (That was ok.)  I was instructed to NEVER take them again.  Believe me, you couldn't PAY me to take them.  I threw them in the trash right there in the hospital.  You know what's funny?  Three months ago, I was at the drugstore getting another prescription and asked the pharmacist if they would interfere with my "Metabolift".  A woman standing behind me spoke up and said, "Please don't take those."  "They aren't good for you."  "I took them and now have heart problems."  "I have to take medication just to keep my heart rate regular."  Guess what I said?  "I've been taking them for months and I don't have any problems."  She replied, " I took hem for years and now wish I never would've touched them.  I have to take medication just to keep my heart rate regular."

I TOTALLY DISREGARDED HER WORDS!  Now I wish I would've listened to her.  I wish I knew who she was so I could talk to her and tell her she was right. As the Dr. at the hospital told me, "If you want to lose weight, do it the old-fashioned way............exercise and change your diet."  "Don't depend on pills to do the work for you."

Patti Menges

My personal experience with ephedrine products caused me not to be able to sleep and the only way I could calm down was to get out and run, run to get my system to burn up the junk.  My mother took the same to lose weight and she had a heart attack.  It damaged her heart and she died 4 months later from the effects of it, but nobody researched the cause.

Lost my cravings for all my comfort foods

I started the diet 3 years ago and stayed on it for 3 weeks.  I had lost the amount that I wanted and was leaving for vacation, so that was the end of it.  At that point I still was missing eating my comfort foods.  Now, fast forward 3 years - I recently started the diet again with the determined intention to stay on it 8 weeks.  I wanted to lose 10, maybe 15 pounds.

I am on week 7 and have lost 9 1/2 pounds to date.  It amazes me how this diet takes the "fat" parts of your body off and not the other parts.  This gives you an entirely different shape than other diets.  Honestly, I only exercise 10 minutes each morning and that's it.  I have lost 2" in my hips and 1 1/2" in my waist.  Even though I may have lost this much on other diets, I never lost the inches in my waist and hips.  It is soooo exciting!  I have dropped from a size 8 in pants to a size 4.  Even when I was first married and weighed 6 pounds less than this, I couldn't wear a size 4.

I have lost my cravings for all my comfort foods at this point.  They no longer have control over me like they used to in the past.  Goodbye chocolate and mood swings!  It truly does make a difference to complete all 8 weeks of the program.

Thanks so much Linda for providing us with such a great nutritional plan.

Success came when I had a partner.
I wanted to share the news that I have lost 21 pounds in 9 weeks on "I Love Dieting."  I feel great and am continuing to use the diet to further my goal.  I have lots of energy and clear skin.  I have gained confidence and walk around with a vibrant smile.  I had tried this diet a few times but success came when I had a partner.  She has lost 24 pounds and looks great also.  We are both very excited about your new revamped Healthy Eating plan and can't wait to try it out!  Thanks for your efforts!!

I've lost 44 pounds, 4-5 dress sizes, 23 1/2 inches

I had my first I Love Dieting program last night.  Four women came, and I think three women will be coming to the program starting Jan 14th.  I took advantage of your "Year End Special," and ordered two packets of booklets and tapes.  I am looking forward to getting all of them into the hands of someone willing to change their life.

To date, I've lost 44 pounds, 4-5 dress sizes, 23 1/2 inches (Bust, Waist, Hips, and thighs and arms each counted once).  In our small town when people comment on my weight they are usually astounded at my loss, and make some comment that they never thought I needed to lose weight.  I can't remember when I was this small, probably back in high school, and I'm now 54.

My husband stepped down as the head of our town, and we went on our very first "alone" vacation in our 34 years.  I needed to get an outfit because none of my clothes fit.  I bought a black suede pant and top set.  As I was walking in my socks to another department a man (thirtyish) smiled at me and said "SHARP."  It felt sooooooo good.  If I could bottle that feeling, I'd be a billionaire.

I must admit that the only negative about this is that my husband is getting a little grumpy about the positive comments from his male friends.  I started this diet originally to help him drop one belt size.  He stayed on it 3 1/2 weeks, dropped the belt size, and now is back in the same situation of needing to lose the weight again because he didn't stay on it long enough to change his eating habits.

The changes on your program are for me, for life.  We had our Slim Plan in the hotel room at Disney World every morning.  Put in "hard" twelve-hour days playing.  I had some form of dessert each day and with my great morning start, and all the walking I came home just as I'd been.

I was listening to Larry King Live a few nights ago and he had on Tony Robbins, Andrew Weil, and Deepra Chopak.  They were talking on what we all need to do in response to Sept 11th.  And they all emphasized that now is not the time to indulge in    the sweets, alcohol, or "comfort" foods.  Now is the time for us to get back in control.  We get back into control first by getting ourselves well/physically fit.

Thank you for all your efforts.  You Are Making A Difference!

Have kept my weight off!

Hello Claretta, I very much enjoy your emails and have kept my weight off.  I really still follow the 4 cups of raw vegetables and Shaklee protein and 3 fruits daily and exercise 6 days weekly for 30 minutes.

You and Linda have done more good for thousands of people than you can ever imagine.  Some people in my group have lost 10-20 lbs. and are happy with their weight loss and excited about the healthier mode of living that they have learned through ILD.

Thank you for all you do for us.  Harriet Alvord

There never is the perfect time to be on the first week, but it will go fast.
Thanks for this question!!!  - Is today the day to start ILD?   YES!!!

I lost 32 lbs on this great program.  Have enjoyed the change in eating habits over the last 3 yrs. Right now I am up three lbs, from what I have held my weight at.  Last night I was reading over some of the recent emails, and printed out your message and read it a couple of times before going to bed. It would be great to lose at least 10 pounds making it a total of 40 lbs. lost. I have never been able to keep off weight that I have lost for such a long period of time -- 3 yrs!!

Now I want that slimmer feeling that the program gives me.  Already have said no thanks to the luscious omelet, that my husband Elmer made this a.m. I ate fruit, and he put my half of breakfast in the refrigerator. I told him it would be a week that I won't eat cooked food. It is almost 4 pm, and I feel great. Of course Elmer went fishing thru the ice, and caught some fish, which I love, but I will fix some for him, and will eat fish next week.

There never is the perfect time to be on the first week, but it will go fast. I have a six-week goal, and that will be Elmer's 80th birthday, the 16th of Feb.  We will celebrate his birthday and on the 28th of Feb. we have a booth at the Business Expo at the Doherty in Clare.  We have just joined the Chamber of Commerce there.  I want to be an example for the ILD, plus, I will be able to move around faster. Whew!! Thanks for the Challenge!!!

Anyone you know who is thinking that ILD is hard because of hunger and cravings?

Hi, Everyone,

I know that the majority of you are doing the program just the way it is designed and are having terrific results.

This email is for those of you or anyone you know who is thinking that ILD is hard because of hunger and cravings.  We have sent several emails out addressing this but it has been a while and we have so many new people so here goes...

Let me tell you a story.

Once upon a time there was a woman by the name of Natalie.  Natalie was not overweight as a child nor was she overweight in her teen years.  She had really never even thought about her weight until she was in her thirties when all of a sudden she noticed that her clothes were getting tight.  "What in the world is going on here?" she said.  She knew she wasn't doing anything different - or was she?  If Natalie really thought about it, she was doing something different.  Over the years Natalie's routine had slowed down, not much, but it had definitely slowed down.

When your energy output is not as high and when you continue eating the same amount of foods, your clothes are going to get tight.  Something else that had occurred in Natalie's life - she was getting more lax on her food choices.  She was eating out more, grabbing convenience foods more often, and adding a candy bar to her groceries as a treat to enjoy on the way home from the store.  You have to remember that Natalie has never gone on a diet, has never had to "watch what she ate" before, so her habits were unnoticeable to her.  She has always been slim and unconcerned about what she consumed.

Natalie heard about the I LOVE DIETING program from a friend.  Because this program was a "back to nature" program, she was impressed and wanted to start.  Natalie, because of her past history of never having to diet, thought the weight would just fly off.  Natalie went into the program thinking that she really didn't need to follow it exactly.  She saw the importance of the different components of the program but she was "different."

Natalie listened to the tape twice and read all the information in the book - well, almost all.  When she got to the Question and Answer section she skimmed it thinking, "That will never apply to me."

Natalie got hungry!  She had read the testimonies of people saying that they never got hungry.  "What's wrong with this diet?  Those people must be lying just to get people started on this program!"  Since Natalie skimmed the Q & A section, she failed to read that substantial vegetables don't include lettuce.  She failed to read that the fruits and vegetables have to be balanced.  She figured that she didn't need to do any affirmations, "That was just silly work thrown in for no reason."  She was drinking eight glasses of water some days; but since that was so much more than she had ever drank in her life, she figured six was good enough on most days.  She definitely wasn't going to find a buddy, because she didn't want to tell anyone that she was on a diet.  That would be admitting that she needed to lose weight.

So-ooo, Natalie was on the first diet in her life and is now convinced that people are right when they say that diets don't work.

Fortunately, Natalie called the person who had shared ILD with her.  Fortunately, the person who had shared ILD was very aware of the importance of doing the program exactly the way it was designed.  Natalie's Shaklee representative went over the program with her and impressed on her the importance of reading ALL of the information.  She told her that it is not enough to just educate yourself on the program, you must take action and do the program.

Natalie started over.
This time she found an email buddy.
This time she read all the information and highlighted important points.
This time she made sure she was checking off the book.

She was absolutely amazed!  The program worked beautifully!  She was NEVER hungry.  In fact, many times she ate only the requirements, because she just wasn't hungry.  Natalie finished her eight weeks following the alternating days carefully.  She found that not only did the alternating days stop her plateau, they gave her even more control over her food. She has learned that control over food choices is going to be crucial as she continues her life keeping her weight where she wants it.

End of story?

When you look at the program you may think that it is too hard to do everything.
The truth of the matter is - it is too hard NOT to do everything!

If you are experiencing hunger, don't try to be a hero thinking that everyone gets hungry on a diet.  That is old thinking.  ILD was designed so you can lose weight without using willpower.  Follow the program the way it is designed.  Use the information you have been given.  Lose the weight letting nature be your appetite suppressant.

For better health,
Linda Prosak

For my 70th birthday, I decided to give myself a gift - better health.

I would like to order 10 more I Love Dieting sets--booklet & tape.  Everyone wants to get on this "program" after seeing how I look.  I did the whole 8 weeks without talking about it, but now that I've lost two sizes my friends are all noticing.  I thought I had better prove it could be done before I tried to tell anyone else about it.  (Actually, I had tried telling quite a few people about it, but no one wanted to make that big of a commitment--until now.)

For my 70th birthday, I decided to give myself a gift - better health.  I figured if I don't start now, while I am still in pretty good shape (no medications, no chronic ailments), things wouldn't get any better.  The doctors want me on cholesterol medication, thyroid meds, and fosomax.  I told them I'd like to give this a try first.  Before starting, I had a talk with my husband and told him that we would each take care of our own food for the 8 weeks, and he agreed.  That was really an important factor.  Then I talked with a friend in Colorado and she decided she would like to do this, too.  So I had a buddy.  I had tried to start this program twice before, and only got through week two because I had no buddy, and had made no commitment.

My cholesterol went down 30 points, my thyroid went down, and it looks like my bone density has improved.  I will keep up the morning regimen as I feel so good when I do it.  And when I go to Christmas parties and people ask me what I've done, I tell them..."It was only eight weeks, I never felt hungry, I never felt like I was on a diet, and I feel better than I've ever felt"...even tho I've been feeling really good for the 21 years I've been on the Shaklee supplements.  (Colds & the flu are nearly non-existent in our home.)

Thanks, Dorothy Solberg

I don't get tired/sleepy in the afternoons.  I wake up every morning ready to go.

Hello everyone,

I am relatively new to the group and haven't responded to e-mails until now.  I am on day 3 of week 2.  Since I won't be able to make the conference call, I'll share my experience now.

I had heard of ILD but never really considered it as an option for me.  I thought that I wouldn't be able to stick to it.  I tried several other diets but always gained my weight back. I have needed to lose at least 20 lbs for the past 5 years.

To make a long story short, I decided that I was tired of feeling like a washtub and went on the ILD.  I have more energy now than I've had in years. I never felt that way on other diets. Now, I don't get tired/sleepy in the afternoons.  I wake up every morning ready to go.  I have lost 5 lbs so far and my self-esteem has soared in just one short week.  It's amazing!!!  I am so glad that I didn't wimp out after the first few days because of bad headaches.

I read and look forward to all the encouraging and informative e-mails.  Having a good buddy and being a part of this Awesome group has been invaluable to me in helping me stay on track.

Best of health to all,
Grayland Dobson

 OKAY, WHAT WOULD MOTIVATE YOU?
You recently received the incredible testimony of Susan Jipson.  Those of you who have been on our email list for several months have read numerous testimonies of people who have had fantastic results from I LOVE DIETING.

Have you been thinking that you should go on ILD and putting it off?

Do you have your book/tape set and keep thinking that you will get started soon?

Do you get up in the morning determined to do the program and follow it half-way during the day.  Night comes and you tell yourself, "Oh well, what's one more day?  I might as well have that bowl of ice cream and start tomorrow."

Do you enjoy going to your closet to find something to wear or do you look at a lot of clothes that you can't get in to?  How often do you find yourself looking at these things and saying -- some day?

Do you feel good when you eat all those chips, cookies, and ice cream or do they just taste good while they are going down only to leave you with a dragged out feeling.

Do you really enjoy how you feel after eating lunch at a fast-food place?

Do you want one more day before you start?  When is the last "one more day" going to take place?  Have you ever asked yourself that?

Have you looked at the program only to think that you can't do it?  Why do you think you can't do it?  Have you tried just one day of the program?  I don't mean have you played around with the program for one day, I mean have you followed it exactly the way it is designed, using all the components?

Let me tell you what your first couple of days COULD be like on the program.

DAY ONE ON I LOVE DIETING

You get up in the morning and drink your water and exercise.  You may not have been looking forward to exercising first thing in the morning, but after you get out of bed and have actually done your exercises, you are energized.  You wonder why you thought it would be hard - ten minutes is nothing.  You watched the morning news while you exercised and you are surprisingly ready to start your day - even more ready than you have been for some time.  It's not just the exercise that is giving you this feeling - it's the commitment you have made to change your life.  It's thinking about moving in the direction that you have wanted to go for a long time.

You get your ILD book out and check off things as you go through the day.  By 4:00 you are convinced that this program is going to help you make the changes in your life that you have been waiting for.  You wonder why it took you so long to make the final decision to go for it.  You get excited when you do your visualizations - in fact you have been visualizing all day about looking and feeling the way you truly want
to look and feel.

Evening comes, you check you book to be certain that you followed everything correctly and you find that you did.  You get into bed and have a wonderful feeling of accomplishment.  You have really done it.  You have begun the task of changing your life and it feels absolutely FANTASTIC!

DAY TWO ON I LOVE DIETING

Today you bounce out of bed. You did great yesterday and you already feel lighter and cleaner inside.  You ask yourself, "Why did I like eating all those fatty, sugary heavy foods when they bogged me down so much?"  You exercise, notate your ILD book and you are off and running for the second day.

You sit straighter in your chair and you have a bounce in your step that has been missing way too long.  You ask yourself,  "How long has it been since I have felt like this?"  "I am happy, I am excited, I am looking so forward to life and it feels so wonderful!"

You have to buy a birthday present for a friend so you stop by a department store.  When you walk in the store you think, "It has been a long time since I have shopped for myself but I think I am going to look at some clothes."  You look at some things and are really feeling good about the possibility of getting into clothes that you look dynamite in.  No, you aren't going to buy anything today because you know that it won't fit you just yet -- but in a very short time it will and it is fun to look.  It has been a long time since it has been fun to look.  Now you look at clothes you like and
instead of thinking, "I will never be able to wear that you are thinking, wow, it won't be very long until I am in something like that!"  You have hope of looking the way you want to look and you know it has been a long time since you have felt this way.  You like this feeling and you are determined to keep this feeling alive.

How do these two days compare to the last two days of your life? What are you going to do tomorrow or the next day that is more important or more significant than going on I LOVE DIETING?  Many times the worse day of any diet is the day before you start.  Once you start you are going to feel so much better.

I lost 65 pounds and 37 inches in 7 months on ILD
I began "I Love Dieting" in January 2000, and I continue to follow a slightly modified eating program based on the principles and nutrients of the I Love Dieting program.

I lost 65 pounds and 37 inches in 7 months on ILD, going from a size 16-18 to a size 10-12.  Most of my loss was fat, and I have maintained my lean muscle mass and improved the quality of my skin, hair and nails.  I continue to lose 1/4-1/2 pound per week while eating 2200 or more calories a day.  I think that is a great testimony to how ILD can change and even heal a dieter's metabolism.

Over the past 25 years, I have successfully lost many pounds with Weight Watchers, Nutri-System, Pritikin, Atkins, Jenny Craig, the Zone and a whole host of other eating programs.  In each case, I not only regained the weight I had lost in a very short period of time but also added 10 pounds after each go-round.  I went on my first formal diet with Weight Watchers. I was 18 years old and had gained 10 pounds my first year away at college. I easily lost 20 pounds during that first session with Weight Watchers, then gained 30 over the next 5 years, and I have been on that
roller-coaster ever since.

My metabolism became more and more efficient as a result of low-calorie dieting, so that by the time I began ILD I was eating a low-fat diet with no more than 1100 calories a day and was unable to lose weight at all.  The ILD program is very nutrient and calorie dense, and I was surprised (and pleased) that I immediately began to lose weight on 1800 calories a day.

I would have to say that the first week of ILD is the hardest, and everyone I have talked to about this agrees.  This is a very doable program, but it's a good idea to listen to the ILD cassette tape, take the carbohydrate addict's test, read and study all the materials in advance, get a "buddy" to do the program with, and think through the logistics of committing to that first week.  For those with a carbohydrate metabolism problem, the first week of ILD can be like drug de-tox.  It really emphasizes how off-track one's nutrition has been.  The pay-off is that most people lose a lot of weight during week one.  I lost 12 pounds.  Things get incredibly easier after that first week of blender drinks and raw food.

I would have to say that the thing that impresses me most about ILD is that I have never (not once) been hungry on this eating program.  My mother (age 68), who has lost 42 pounds in 4 months on ILD, agrees.  She is also a chronic dieter.... I think she's done them all....  and she says her energy level has never stayed so high on any eating program she's ever done.  She also says that the long-term indigestion and hiatal reflux she had suffered for over 2 years prior to ILD disappeared during the first week on the program and has never returned.  My sister (age 44) lost over 60 pounds in 6 months on ILD.  She has been impressed with how easily the Slim Plan drinks and food choices fit into her busy school teaching schedule and with how positively her skin problems (rosacea) have responded to the ILD foods and supplements.

The other thing that impresses me and my family about ILD is that this is not only an educational eating program but one that is sustainable.  If you remember what you've learned about your body during this program, the weight stays off.  If you carefully stick with ILD for at least the full 2 months, I believe you can heal your body so that you never have to live with the slowed down metabolism and insulin resistance produced by low calorie dieting.  As your metabolism normalizes, you really can begin to eat normal quantities of good food, perhaps for the first time in years.

I just finished I Love Dieting and I have lost 17 lbs. total.  I feel great.

One thing I find very helpful to keep me from eating the wrong things is:

1)  Think back at all the hard work I just went through.
2)  I cleaned out my closet and left only the clothes that make me feel good and that fit me great now.  Periodically I try on a dress that did not fit me months ago and it makes me feel great to know that I look good in it again.
3)  I have asked for Christmas a few clothing items that I have been wanting to wear but could not because of my weight.  NOW I CAN!

Hope these help.

Cholesterol went from 245 to 183
Have been wanting to let you know how I did and am doing on the I Love Dieting.  I had great success during my 8 weeks, I lost 19 lbs. and 7-1/2 inches (4 from my hips).  I have continued to lose over the past month and a half, another 2-1/2 pounds and another 2 inches.  I continue to take some of the supplements twice a day, have found out that the Alfalfa also helped with allergies and sinuses.  But the best is that when I went to my doctor in Mid-August my cholesterol went from 245 to 183.  That was the 8 weeks I was on the diet.  I continue to feel good, continue to drink water a lot, and walk.  I have dropped 1-1/2 dress size, and am looking at losing another 4 lbs, just by watching what I eat, exercising and using the Slim-Plan once a day.

NOTHING tastes as good as being thin feels!!!!!

What a wild 8 weeks!

We first started in July and after a day or two our grandson was killed in a farming accident.  A very stressful weekend in Central Texas attending to funeral arrangements and family stopped us from being able to continue.  We had to start all over again the week after week got back.  We were both pretty much emotionally and physically exhausted from the loss of our grandson and helping our kids get through that difficult time as well.

We started again on 8/01, thinking it might be easier to start in the middle of the week.  That proved to be true for us as our weekends are pretty helter skelter and not orderly enough to start such an ambitious program.  The first few days were pretty tough because of our condition and suddenly changing our eating habits so much.  I also quit drinking coffee cold turkey then as well.  (now I have a cup every now and then as a treat rather than a morning necessity). Your phone calls really helped us get through those days.

That Thursday and Friday I came home from work sick with really bad headaches and would go straight to bed.  We were determined to succeed and made it though it.  By the beginning of week 2 I had lost only 1.5 inches (chest, waist, hips) but I had lost another 2 inches in the place I had begun to call my "hanging gut" and had lost 9 lbs.  That was very encouraging.

Olivia on the other hand had lost only 3 lbs. but lost over 4 inches in size.  We were hooked and ready for action and determined to complete the 8 weeks successfully.  We didn't know just how hard that was going to be! During the next 7 weeks, we spent one week in Las Vegas at a computer conference and still lost weight.  A week after we got back, Olivia's father passed away so we had the travel and funeral proceeding in San Antonio for several days and continued to hold our own, still losing a little.

Then on week 8 we made a driving trip to Wisconsin that took all week.  Each time we took measured portions of Slim Plan, Protein and Fiber as well as our vitamins and plenty of fruit and veggies.  We continued our exercise every day while traveling and avoided any cheating whenever possible, choosing to eat salads or prescribed ILD meals when dining out and avoiding fast foods.  While it was troublesome, it was not impossible.

Here is the tale of the tape....

Motivational saying we got from a magnet in Las Vegas:
NOTHING tastes as good as being thin feels!!!!!

I said that to Olivia so many times she got tired of hearing me say it!!!  We now have that magnet on our fridge.

Total weight loss:
JRW 33 lbs - from 245 to 212 headed for 185.
OMW 13 lbs - headed to 13 more.
We are both about 1/2 way to our total goal weight.

Total inches lost:
JRW 10 inches (+ 4.5 inches in my "gut"!)
OMW 11.5 inches!!!  Wow does she look good!!!

We found that having the ILD breakfast fits our schedule nicely and we really like it.  We plan to continue that as long as there is Slim Plan, Protein and fiber.  Also, the routine of our weekdays makes it is easier for us to eat according to the diet than trying to find a quick meal someplace.  I just take veggies, fruit and the drink ingredients to work and it works out very well.  Many evenings I come home late and just have another Slim Plan/protein drink.

Weekends start well with ILD breakfast but with church activities and running errands it is more difficult. It is harder to get to all those meals and snacks so that is when the Carbo Crunch really comes in handy.

We each keep a 33 oz bottle of water with us all the time, knowing we must drink at least two of them every day.

My Dr. is VERY pleased and is taking notes on my progress.  I got off the Baycol (was recalled) about a month ago and am scheduled for blood work next week to see how my cholesterol and triglycerides are now.  I will let you know as soon as I do.  I am hoping I will not have to be on cholesterol medicine.  I have never had a measured cholesterol below 200 without medication and always had very high Triglycerides. The Dr. also told me I will have to greatly reduce my blood pressure medication since I have lost so much weight.  That should be in the next couple of weeks as well.

Olivia and I plan to continue the week 8 diet for at least as long as it takes to get to our goal weight. If we get hung at some weight, we have no problem doing week 1 again to get going again as we really like the taste and convenience of the foods we eat during that week.  Because of the convenience and it fitting so well into our lifestyle, we see no reason to stop eating according to ILD.  Now THIS is really great "fast food"!!!!!

We will let you know how we progress.  Thanks for the ILD introduction and patience in letting us come to the point of making our own decision to do something about our health!!  ILD is just tough enough to start that a person needs to make a real commitment to get started, but once started, staying with it is no problem when we see how much better we feel and look.

Now I just need to find some pants that aren't so baggy and fit well enough until I complete my weight and size loss.

John Waling

RECENT NOTE FROM JOHN:  Oh by the way, since I sent the note to Phyllis I have lost another 3 pounds down to 209 (from 245) and Olivia has lost another 3 pounds as well. I forwarded the testimony of the lady over 60 years old to my boss who told me just Friday she thinks she is going to go on ILD because she has seen it work for me and has listened to the tape!   NOTHING tastes as good as being thin feels!!!!!

My 25-year-old son went on the "I Love Dieting" program recently with amazing results.

He followed the diet to the letter, and in just 2 weeks he had lost 16 lbs. He started the diet at 200 lbs. and wanted to get down to 170, but by week 7 he was already down to the 160's.  He stopped the diet just a couple of days before the end of the 8th week at 161 pounds, a loss of 39 pounds.

The other half of the story is that the people he works with couldn't help but notice how much weight he has lost, and how good he looks and feels.  Although he is not building a Shaklee business, he has already started 6 people on the program.

What excites me most as his mom is that the program has succeeded in changing his eating habits and the way he looks at food.  He's now reading food ingredient labels, shopping at the health food store, and passing up the fast food that used to be his frequent choice for lunch or dinner. He's riding a mountain bike every day after work and has normalized his blood pressure as well.  Thank you for this fantastic
program!

Almost been a full year that I have kept all of the weight off!
In response to your last "holiday alert" email, I wanted to comment that I began I Love Dieting in mid-October last year, and it has almost been a full year that I have kept all of the weight off!  I feel so great, and thank you, Linda, so much for creating the diet.  I feel like a new person (still).  I have continued to exercise, drink water, eat many fruits and vegetables, drink the Slim Plan and soy protein, and take the essential vitamins for myself.  Believe me, I actually feel that I am eating what I want, not only because I choose to eat healthy, but also because I eat sweets or pasta if I desire.  I just wanted to let others know that it really does work, not as a quick weight loss program only to gain the weight back, but as a permanent life change. I am grateful to the program that changed my life!

Thank you,

Am currently working on the ILD program as well as breast feeding my fifth child,

I and am extremely pleased to say that this is the first time in over ten years that I have been able to lose weight while nursing.  Maybe some mothers find that the weight just comes off naturally, but it never happened for me, even though I exercised and ate pretty sensibly (despite a few weaknesses).  I never gained a large amount during pregnancy, which is lucky, because what I weighed when I came home from the hospital was always exactly what I weighed 15-20 months later when I stopped nursing each baby.  By then, I'd accommodated myself to the extra 5 pounds or so, and the cycle continued.

In addition to the weight loss I've had, I feel that the ILD program is helping my baby.  I was nervous about starting because of  breast feeding, and actually thought about it for about 6 months before I took the plunge.  Now I wish I'd started earlier.  My son is gaining weight nicely.  He weighs about 20 pounds and nurses very frequently, every three hours or so during the day and at least once during the night. (Yes, I know, an 11-month-old should be sleeping through the night, but that's a different problem that has nothing to do with ILD!  All my kids were like this.)

I felt confident about starting the program because it does not restrict calories too much.  I  believe the book says that the allowed foods can amount to as much as 2200 calories a day, which should cover the nutritional needs of mother and baby.  (Depending on the choices I imagine it could be more.  An avocado could be a choice of  fruit, for example, adding quite a bit.)  A baby getting most of his nutrition from milk adds about 500 calories a day to the needs of the mother, so ILD still allows quite a bit for her own body.  I have also found that milk production has at least as much to do with fluid intake as with food intake.  I drink twice or more the amount of water that the ILD program requires.  Basically, every time I walk through the kitchen I drink a couple of glasses.  This is really key.

But to get back to why I feel ILD is helping my baby.  He was gaining weight before this, so that's not new.  What's new is that I have so much more energy for him and his four older sisters.  Everyone knows that the joys of a baby come with stress and sleep deprivation as well.  Before starting this program, I simply could not get through an afternoon without taking at least a half-hour nap.  I have been amazed to find, even from the first week, that I usually don't need this at all anymore.  I have more patience because I'm not so tired.  And I no longer have the late-afternoon cravings that would make me irritable. Furthermore, I feel that I am giving my baby better nutrition than I was before.  He gets some of all that protein, too!  And think about this: according to the La Leche League, "Even the taste of the milk changes with the diet of the mother.  You could say that your milk is programming your baby's taste buds for coming fare on the dinner table" (The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, 4th ed., p. 360).  Now I can hope that I am programming my son to like vegetables. (He certainly likes my milk just as much as used to.)

A friend of mine has a baby with eczema.  Her baby's pediatrician asked her whether she ate a lot of sugar.  She admitted that she craved sweets all the time, and the doctor thought that might have a contributing role, by making her milk overly sweet. My one frustration with ILD was that at first weight loss was slow.  I had almost no loss in weeks 2 and 3.  I stuck it out purely because of the benefits I experienced as described above.  And the weight loss did happen.

I'm now finishing week 5 and have lost 10 pounds, which is at least half my goal.  As I think about it, too, it is probably good that I did not lose more quickly.  The only warning I have read in breast feeding books about dieting is about "crash" diets.  The fear is that since environmental toxins are stored in body fat, losing a large amount of weight quickly could conceivably (no one is sure) release overly large amounts of these toxins into the milk as the fat is dissolved.  But I've never heard anyone say that a nursing mother shouldn't lose weight, period.  And this has got to be the healthiest, most nutrition-dense way to do it. I am so thrilled to see the rewards now in the way I look.

The most surprising thing to me has been that my body seems to know where I need to lose the weight.  I've always thought I could never wear a straight skirt.  (To emphasize the positive, let's just say I have a relatively small waist.)  In the past, even before having children, whenever I dieted I'd end up with the same fitting problems, only in a smaller size.  This time I've so far lost only an inch or so at the waist, but over 6 inches in the hips and thighs.  I wore a suit last week that I'd bought a few years ago but hadn't been able to wear for a while.  I could hardly believe how well the straight skirt fit--so much better than when I originally bought it. ILD has been a real gift to me--and to my kids!

Some pills may help control the appetite, but they can have serious side effects. Read This!

Dieters peg their hopes on pills and capsules that promise to 'burn,' 'block,' 'flush,' or otherwise eliminate fat from the system. But science has yet to come up with a low-risk 'magic bullet' for weight loss. Some pills may help control the appetite, but they can have serious side effects. (Amphetamines, for instance, are highly addictive and can have an adverse impact on the heart and central nervous system.) Other pills are utterly worthless.

The Federal Trade Commission and a number of state Attorney General have successfully brought cases against marketers of pills claiming to absorb or burn fat. The Food and Drug Administration has banned 111 ingredients once found in over-the-counter diet products. None of these substances, which include alcohol, caffeine, dextrose, and guar gum, have proved effective in weight-loss or appetite suppression.

Beware of the following products that are touted as weight-loss wonders:

Diet patches, which are worn on the skin, have not been proven to be safe or effective. The FDA has seized millions of these products from manufacturers and promoters.

'Fat blockers' purport to physically absorb fat and mechanically interfere with the fat a person eats.

'Starch blockers' promise to block or impede starch digestion. Not only is the claim unproven, but users have complained of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and stomach pains.

'Magnet' diet pills allegedly 'flush fat out of the body.' The FTC has brought legal action against several marketers of these pills.

Glucomannan is advertised as the 'Weight Loss Secret That's Been in the Orient for Over 500 Years.' There is little evidence supporting this plant root's effectiveness as a weight-loss product.

Some bulk producers or fillers, such as fiber-based products, may absorb liquid and swell in the stomach, thereby reducing hunger. Some fillers, such as guar gum, can even prove harmful, causing obstructions in the intestines, stomach, or esophagus. The FDA has taken legal action against several promoters containing guar gum.

Spirulina, a species of blue-green algae, has not been proven effective for losing weight.

Phony weight-loss devices range from those that are simply ineffective to those that are truly dangerous to your health. At minimum, they are a waste of your hard-earned money.
